Türkiye’s Exports to UAE Surge 64.5% Amid Strengthened Trade Ties
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) became Turkey’s fastest-growing export market in the first half of the year, with shipments increasing by 64.5% to roughly $3.3 billion, according to the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly.
Turkey’s total exports from January to June increased by 4.1% year on year to $131.4 billion, with June alone seeing an 8% increase to $20.5 billion. The automotive industry accounted for the majority of Turkish exports, with $19.99 billion in sales, followed by chemicals at $15.76 billion and electrical-electronics at $8.33 billion.
Exports to the UAE increased by $1.28 billion over the previous year, representing the largest rise among Turkey’s export markets. Germany, the United Kingdom, Slovenia, and Italy followed the growth figures. During this time, the United Arab Emirates was Turkey’s tenth-largest export market.
The jewellery sector led Turkey’s exports to the UAE, accounting for $1.81 billion, followed by chemicals, electronics, steel, and grains. Istanbul-based enterprises contributed the majority of these exports, with considerable shipments also coming from Çorum, Izmir, and Ankara. Mehmet Ali Akarca of the Turkey-UAE Business Council stated that the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement had improved trade by reducing tariffs.
