India has marked a significant milestone in its clean mobility journey by exporting 100 electric buses to Mauritius, the largest such deal undertaken by the country to date. The buses were supplied by Switch Mobility, an electric vehicle arm of the Hinduja Group, under a government-to-government initiative aimed at strengthening sustainable transport infrastructure in the island nation.

The final batch of buses was formally handed over during an official ceremony attended by senior leaders from both nations, highlighting the diplomatic importance of the transaction. The project was facilitated through a tender managed by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), while operations will be handled by Mauritius’ National Transport Corporation.

The buses, identified as the EiV12 model, are equipped with advanced lithium iron phosphate batteries, telematics systems for real-time monitoring, and fast-charging capabilities. Each vehicle can accommodate around 45 passengers, ensuring efficiency in public transport services.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to reduce carbon emissions and modernise public transportation in Mauritius. It also reflects India’s growing global footprint in electric mobility and reinforces bilateral cooperation between the two countries in promoting environmentally sustainable solutions.
