Goyal Highlights Renewable Energy, Infrastructure as Key Growth Areas in Singapore Meetings
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has called for greater collaboration between Indian and Singaporean enterprises, emphasising that closer cooperation will considerably boost trade and investment between the two nations. Speaking at the “India-Singapore@60: Partnership for Growth and Innovation” business event, Goyal emphasised the significance of developing a more inclusive, balanced, and future-oriented economic partnership.
The minister is on a three-day official visit to Singapore, where he has had a number of high-level discussions with prominent business leaders and industry representatives. In a post on X, he emphasised the vast potential for business-to-business collaboration, citing areas such as energy, infrastructure, and digital connection.
Goyal met with Kim Yin Wong, Group President and CEO of Sembcorp, to discuss India’s growing renewable energy sector, green hydrogen projects, and the potential for industrial parks. He also met with Keppel CEO Loh Chin Hua to discuss potential in waste-to-energy projects, data centres, and infrastructure development.
In another meeting, the minister met with a delegation led by Nags Sankaranarayanan, CEO of Nomura Asia Pacific Holdings, to discuss methods to boost India-focused investments. He also met with Gautam Banerjee, the Chairman of Blackstone Singapore, to discuss long-term financial flows into manufacturing-linked infrastructure.
