India, Japan Strengthen Tech Collaboration as PM Modi Concludes Two-Day Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his two-day visit to Japan with a focus on technology cooperation and stronger people-to-people ties. The visit concluded with a tour of Tokyo Electron Miyagi Ltd in Sendai, a key player in the semiconductor industry, where he was accompanied by Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. PM Modi arrived in the city by bullet train, bringing a symbolic end to a trip that promoted innovation and speed.

He learnt about TEL Miyagi’s advanced manufacturing capabilities and its global significance in semiconductor production. PM Modi emphasised the synergies between India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem and Japan’s expertise in technology, emphasising the importance of resilient and secure supply chains. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the India-Japan Semiconductor Supply Chain Partnership, emphasising the strategic value of the partnership in meeting rising global demand.

PM Modi also discussed the historic and cultural links between the two nations, highlighting shared principles shaped by Buddhism and deep friendships built over centuries. He stated that these links have led to robust cooperation in technology, trade, tourism, and security.

PM Modi introduced the State-Prefecture Partnership Initiative, emphasising the importance of states and prefectures. This initiative will encourage direct exchanges and grassroots collaboration.
