PM Modi Urges BRICS to Guide Multipolar World with Ethical AI Use
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the BRICS nations to embrace responsible AI governance while enhancing multilateralism and deepening economic cooperation. Speaking during the BRICS Outreach Summit in Brazil, PM expressed gratitude to Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva for inviting India to share its views with Latin American, African, and Asian countries.
PM Modi emphasised BRICS’ growing importance in a changing world and urged the group to serve as a guide for a multipolar global order. He acknowledged BRICS’ progress in economic cooperation and praised Brazil’s emphasis on International Financial System reforms.
PM Modi urged BRICS to collaborate to meet the expectations of the Global South, citing India’s BRICS Agricultural Research Platform and the ‘One Nation, One Subscription’ project as examples of partnership. He emphasised the need to secure supply networks for vital minerals and ensure their equitable use.
On AI, he called for global standards to promote ethical and responsible use while addressing concerns about risks and bias. He announced that India will host the AI Impact Summit next year, inviting BRICS partners to participate actively, reaffirming India’s commitment to working closely with the Global South.
