Anutin Outlines Plans for Growth, Security, and Reform in First Policy Address
Thailand’s new Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul made his first government policy statement to parliament, presenting a roadmap to revive the economy and improve national stability. Addressing lawmakers at the National Assembly, Anutin noted the country’s wide-ranging difficulties and asked for immediate action while committing to long-term reforms.
He emphasised that his government would prioritise increasing household income, lowering living costs, and tackling escalating debt concerns. Plans also include increasing domestic savings and strengthening Thailand’s standing as a worldwide tourist destination through improved safety standards and launching fresh stimulus programs.
On national security, Anutin promised to resolve border conflicts with Cambodia peacefully and to pursue a constructive foreign policy to strengthen Thailand’s position in regional and international forums. He also vowed decisive measures against corruption and illegal gambling, emphasising transparency, accountability, and fiscal discipline in government operations.
Environmental issues were heavily discussed in his speech, including proposals for new disaster warning systems in vulnerable regions and policies encouraging clean energy use to establish a low-carbon society.
The prime minister promised parliament that these measures would be consistent with the national plan, which focuses on fair access to healthcare and education while empowering the private sector, particularly small and medium-sized businesses.
