PM Modi launched two major highway projects worth about ₹11,000 crore in New Delhi, calling them part of a “development revolution” to reduce traffic and boost connectivity across the National Capital Region. He stated that these projects demonstrate his government’s commitment to reforms that expand good governance and make people’s lives easier.

The inaugurated stretches include the 10.1-kilometre Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway, built at 5,300 crore, and the Alipur-Dichaon Kalan segment of UER-II, built with an investment of 5,580 crore. The Dwarka Expressway link would connect Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, Delhi Metro’s Blue and Orange lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station and the Dwarka cluster bus depot. The UER-II stretch will divert heavy traffic away from Delhi’s Inner and Outer Ring Roads, reducing congestion at key choke points including Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-9.

Mr Modi reiterated his appeal for citizens to adopt the “Vocal for Local” movement by trusting and purchasing Indian products. He stated that the upcoming next-generation GST reforms will help both consumers and the economy. Delhi CM Rekha Gupta extended gratitude to the PM, stating that the projects will bring long-term relief to commuters and improve urban transportation in the city.
