Historic Maritime Link Unites Qatar and Bahrain in 70-Minute Voyage
Qatar and Bahrain have established a new direct ferry service between Al-Ruwais Port in Qatar and Sa’ada Marina in Bahrain, spanning 35 nautical miles in around 70 minutes. The program represents increased cooperation within the GCC and aims to improve regional connectivity and tourism.
The service was launched by Qatar’s Minister of Transport, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani, and Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, HE Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa. Both leaders described the project as a significant step towards improving economic and cultural connections between the two nations.
Standard and VIP vessels can accommodate 28 and 32 passengers, respectively, with full customs and security measures in place. Tickets are available through the MASAR app and are priced at QR265 for a round journey. The service will initially serve GCC nationals, with two daily departures from November 7 to 12, and three from November 13 to 22, with future growth based on demand.
Officials stated that the new route represents a common vision for sustainable development and efficient transportation. By promoting trade, travel, and cooperation, the Qatar-Bahrain ferry marks a new era of maritime integration and a key step towards Gulf unity.
