Abu Dhabi Emerges as Global AI Hub with 61% Sector Expansion

According to the Abu Dhabi Chamber, the Artificial Intelligence sector grew by 61% between June 2023 and June 2024.

According to the Abu Dhabi Chamber, the Artificial Intelligence sector grew by 61% between June 2023 and June 2024. The emirate presently has 673 AI companies, ranking among the greatest concentrations in the global landscape of 90,904 AI firms.

This expansion solidifies Abu Dhabi’s status as the fastest-growing AI hub in the Middle East and North Africa. Officials credit the expansion to effective collaboration among the government, industry leaders, and innovators. Over the last six months alone, 150 new AI companies launched, with more than 58% focusing on innovation, research, and consulting.

Shamis Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Second Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Chamber stated that the industry is transitioning from early acceptance to large-scale transformation. He credited an ecosystem that brings together research institutions, businesses, and policymakers.

SureFlow CEO Sebastien Dui commended Abu Dhabi’s advanced infrastructure and cross-sector investment plan, describing it as a model for AI-driven economic growth.

Flagship universities, such as the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence and the Technology Innovation Institute, continue to attract global talent.
