Abu Dhabi has introduced advanced artificial intelligence capabilities to improve early diagnosis of chronic illnesses like diabetes and cancer, intending to help residents live longer and healthier lives. The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has introduced an AI-driven patient risk profile system across all hospitals and clinics, enabling doctors to make proactive healthcare decisions based on lifelong patient data.

The initiative forms a part of the emirate’s three-pillar strategy, which focuses on longevity, world-class medical treatment, and healthcare system resiliency. During Gitex Global 2025 in Dubai, Ibrahim Al Jallaf, Executive Director of Digital Health at DoH, explained that the system analyses 14 diseases by reviewing a patient’s whole medical history. It identifies potential problems before symptoms appear, recommending appropriate testing and tracking patterns that humans might overlook.

The AI model scans data ranging from birth records to recent medical visits, providing predicted insights that help doctors intervene on time. Al Jallaf emphasised that the technology supports rather than replaces physicians, providing detailed reasons for each prediction. The application is integrated with the Malaffi health information exchange, ensuring that every resident’s medical record is available across hospitals.
