India Women Triumph in ODI Series with Thrilling Win Over England
India defeated England by 13 runs in the third and final ODI at Chester-le-Street, taking the series 2-1. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur set the tone with a controlled 102 off 84 balls, her seventh ODI century. She became the third Indian woman to reach 4000 ODI runs, joining Mithali Raj and Smriti Mandhana. India scored 318 for 5 after deciding to bat.
Pratika Rawal and Mandhana exchanged a 64-run opening stand before Mandhana left for 45. Harleen Deol scored 45, while Jemimah Rodrigues hit a quick 50 off 45 deliveries, forming a 110-run partnership with Kaur. Richa Ghosh scored a fast 38 off 18 balls to help India surpass 300.
England’s chase faltered early when 19-year-old pacer Kranti Goud dismissed both openers cheaply. She concluded with a career-best 6 for 52, making her the second-youngest Indian woman to take five wickets in ODIs. Nat Sciver-Brunt scored 98 and Emma Lamb added 68 to revive England’s innings with a 162-run partnership. Alice Davidson-Richards scored 44, but England got out for 305 in 49.5 overs.
India’s win capped a successful tour that included a T20I series victory, highlighting their strong record in women’s cricket.
