India’s CBSE Expands International Footprint with Global Curriculum Rollout

India's Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will launch its Global Curriculum in April 2026, a significant step towards internationalising Indian education.

India’s Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will launch its Global Curriculum in April 2026, a significant step towards internationalising Indian education. It is intended for CBSE-affiliated schools in the UAE and other countries, with the goal of integrating global learning standards with India’s strong academic framework.

The announcement was made during the Sahodaya School Complexes Conference in Dubai, which brought together over 800 educators from India and the Gulf region to explore educational innovation. Dr Ram Shankar, Director of the CBSE Regional Office in Dubai, stated that the curriculum is still in draft form and would be finalised following meetings with stakeholders.

Officials from GCC nations like Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and the UAE took part in discussions about curriculum design, teacher qualifications, and global recognition of CBSE certificates. Regulators appreciated the board’s emphasis on quality and affordability.

The Global Curriculum builds upon the former CBSE-i program, which ended in 2017, and will now address the unique needs of foreign CBSE schools. It will also be offered to Indian and international schools that want to follow CBSE standards.

From 2026, CBSE schools in the UAE will integrate their teaching practices, facilities, and training programs with the new framework, providing pupils with a curriculum that is both internationally relevant and strongly rooted in Indian educational values.
