FADA Reports Sharp Rise in India’s EV Sales, Commercial Vehicle Momentum in June 2025

India’s electric vehicle sales doubled in June 2025 compared to the same month last year, according to data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).

India’s electric vehicle sales doubled in June 2025 compared to the same month last year, according to data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA). Nearly five out of every 100 passenger vehicles sold this month were electric, up from around two in June 2024. This indicates a significant shift in consumer adoption of electric mobility in India. However, total car sales have moderated due to financing difficulties and supply issues in some variations.

The early arrival of monsoon rains, combined with rising interest in electric vehicles, influenced consumer purchasing habits. In the two-wheeler market, the EV share rose to 7.28% from 6.07% month-on-month. Commercial vehicle adoption of electric cars increased slightly as well. FADA forecasts a cautiously optimistic outlook, with government capital investment in infrastructure projected to underpin growth in the coming months. The construction equipment segment grew 44.98% month-on-month and 54.95% year-on-year.

Commercial vehicles increased 6.6% year-on-year, despite a little monthly dip. A high monsoon forecast may boost rural liquidity and drive demand across segments, notably for two-wheelers and tractors.
