Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised India’s outstanding performance at the Asian Archery Championships 2025, describing it as a historic achievement for the country’s sporting community. India finished the event with an astounding 10 medals, the best result in the championship’s history, and an impressive Indian archery on the continent.

The country won six gold medals, including a long-awaited victory in the men’s individual recurve. Dhiraj Bommadevara’s win ended an 18-year drought in the event, making the occasion even more meaningful for Indian fans. In a message posted on X, 

PM Modi praised the sportsmen’s tenacity and stated that their achievements would inspire many young archers across the country. He also praised the outstanding individual and team performances, particularly the successful compound title defences.

The women’s recurve team of Deepshikha, Jyothi Surekha Vennam, and Prithika Pradeep won gold with confidence. In another closely watched match, Dhiraj defeated compatriot Rahul 6-2 in the final to win the historic recurve title. Additional medal-winning efforts came from Sangeeta, who won bronze after a tough shoot-out, and the men’s recurve team, who defeated South Korea in another dramatic finish.
