Indonesia is set to make history by hosting the 2025 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Senayan, Jakarta, in October. Ita Yuliati, chair of the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation, confirmed that 86 countries and regions have already registered for the 53rd edition, establishing a new participation record for the prestigious event.

This annual championship attracts approximately 70 nations. The 2025 edition will be the first time Indonesia, or any Southeast Asian nation, will host this prestigious competition. More than 600 gymnasts from around the world are expected to compete for top honours and Olympic qualification.

The championships, which began in 1903 for men and were expanded to include women’s events in 1934, are regarded as a key highlight of the gymnastics season. Indonesia is working to ensure that preparations run smoothly, including improving stadiums, managing logistics, and holding national training camps.

The event will include twelve apparatus finals—six for men and four for women—and men’s and women’s All-Around titles. Qualification rounds will last three days, with men’s contests on October 19 and 20, and women’s divisions on October 20 and 21. The All-Around champions will be decided on October 22 and 23, followed by two days of apparatus finals, providing exciting competition and global recognition for Indonesian gymnastics.
