Parkin Company and charge&go by e& have announced a ten-year cooperation to modernise Dubai’s electric vehicle infrastructure. The agreement will result in the implementation of 200 ultra-fast direct current chargers across the emirate. The charging network will be strategically located in residential districts and prominent retail and leisure destinations. The system’s design aims to shorten EV charging duration to less than thirty minutes.

The project’s initial phase includes the installation of twenty charging stations. Over the next twelve months, the network will expand to include 200 public and private locations. Users will benefit from increased convenience through an easy mobile app that will allow them to reserve parking and charge spots, display real-time charging status, and make secure in-app payments. Vehicles will only be able to occupy ‘park and charge’ bays when actively charging, preventing slot abuse.

Parkin, which oversees around 212,000 paid parking spaces in Dubai, will use its infrastructure to facilitate the rollout. It also supports the emirate’s commitment to sustainable development and seeks to encourage the usage of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles among the city’s current 40,000 EV owners.
