Strong Demand Lifts India’s Auto Component Exports to $22.9 Billion
India’s auto component exports increased by 8% to $22.9 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2025, according to the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA). This expansion was fuelled by increased demand from Asia, Africa, and America.
Exports to North America, which accounted for over one-third of India’s total shipments, rose 8.4% to $7.35 billion. Shipments to Asia jumped by 15.1% to $5.92 billion, while exports to Africa increased by 16.7% to $1.16 billion. However, exports to Europe fell 2.1% to $6.75 billion for the year.
ACMA Director General Vinnie Mehta stated that India’s auto component business generated a trade surplus of $453 million, up from the previous year’s surplus of almost $300 million. He stated that this development indicates India’s increasing manufacturing competitiveness and ongoing localisation efforts.
China remains India’s leading source of auto component imports, followed by Germany, Japan, South Korea, and the United States. The gross turnover of India’s auto component business increased by 9.6% to Rs 6.73 lakh crore ($80.2 billion) in FY25, while the industry’s size nearly doubled in five years, rising at a 14% CAGR.
