Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the upcoming Land Port project in Banbasa, Champawat district.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the upcoming Land Port project in Banbasa, Champawat district. The Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI) designed a project of around ₹500 crore to improve trade and transportation between India and Nepal.

During the site inspection, Dhami encouraged officials to complete construction on time and with departmental collaboration. He stated that the project will combine trade, immigration, and security operations under a single integrated system, resulting in faster processing and seamless cross-border travel.

According to officials, the Banbasa Land Port will serve as a contemporary border centre, housing customs, security, and commerce agencies in a single structure. It will improve transparency, reduce transit delays, and increase efficiency in passenger and goods movement.

The Chief Minister stated that environmental and land-use approvals had been secured, including clearance to transfer 84 acres of forest land.

Dhami stated that the port will create new prospects for trade, logistics, and local jobs. Farmers and small industries will benefit from increased market access. Aside from trade benefits, the facility is planned to improve tourist and cultural links by facilitating travel over the India-Nepal border.
