Tesla has officially launched in India, with its first Experience Centre located at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the store and unveiled the Model Y, signalling Tesla’s official entry into the Indian market. During the ceremony, Fadnavis emphasised the significance of Tesla’s entry in Mumbai and the state’s commitment to electric mobility.

The Chief Minister stated that Tesla is establishing four big charging stations throughout Maharashtra to boost the state’s EV infrastructure. He also stated that Tesla is developing logistics and servicing networks to better serve its Indian consumers. Fadnavis expressed hope that Maharashtra would become Tesla’s preferred destination if the company decides to establish manufacturing facilities in the country.

Tesla’s entry aligns with India’s expanding EV market and the state’s strong EV policies. Fadnavis remarked that Tesla represents innovation, design, and sustainability, making it a worldwide recognised brand. He told Tesla that the state government will provide complete support, placing Maharashtra as a partner in Tesla’s India journey.

The revised EV policy and reduced import duties may inspire Tesla to increase its investment in India in the future.
