Jyothi Surekha Vennam maintained her impressive form at the Archery World Cup Stage 4 in Madrid, leading India to two podium finishes. The women’s compound team won silver, while the mixed team finished third. Jyothi, Parneet Kaur, and 16-year-old rookie Prithika Pradeep led Chinese Taipei 170-169 following the third end of the women’s team final.

However, the team was unable to maintain the lead, finishing with a score of 225-227 to take silver. An untimely arrow into the 8-ring and a wayward 7 in the final end proved costly for the Indian team. Chinese Taipei maintained their calm, scoring 58 in the final end to win gold.

In the mixed team event, Jyothi teamed up with Rishabh Yadav to defeat El Salvador 156-153 for bronze. The pair had previously achieved a qualifying world record of 1431 points, but were defeated 152-155 in the semifinals by the Netherlands. Despite the medals, the tournament highlighted the challenges that Indian archers face while under pressure.

India is in contention for more medals, with Jyothi and Parneet competing in their individual semifinals later.
