Gujarat Commands 26.6% Share of India’s Total Exports in 2024–25
Gujarat has retained its position as the leading state in India’s export landscape, accounting for a significant portion of the country’s overall export volume. Gujarat exported ₹9.83 lakh crore in 2024-25, representing 26.6% of India’s total exports, according to the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) report.
Jamnagar district led the country with ₹3.63 lakh crore in exports, primarily driven by petroleum products. Despite a dip in export value from ₹11.13 lakh crore in 2023-24 to ₹9.83 lakh crore in 2024-25, Gujarat remains intact. This decline is primarily due to price corrections in petroleum and falling demand for lab-grown diamonds.
Notably, Gujarat is diversifying its export base beyond traditional industries. The state has had tremendous growth in medical equipment, technical textiles, aircraft and spacecraft parts, and ships. Ship exports increased from ₹4,609 crore to ₹17,135 crore, while medical equipment exports reached ₹5,654 crore.
Ahmedabad emerged as Gujarat’s leading district for non-petroleum exports, mainly pharmaceuticals. Pharma exports from the state climbed from ₹33,242 crore to ₹39,983 crore year-on-year.
Gujarat’s top export destination is the US, worth ₹1.54 lakh crore. Exports to the Netherlands and UAE rose, while China and Singapore fell.
