Cairo and Tokyo Sign Wide-Ranging Pacts to Boost Trade, Investment, and Technology Cooperation

Egypt and Japan strengthened their bilateral relations by signing twelve agreements and MoU covering diverse fields like education, renewable energy, industrial cooperation, green economy, tourism, and technology.

Egypt and Japan strengthened their bilateral relations by signing twelve agreements and MoU covering diverse fields like education, renewable energy, industrial cooperation, green economy, tourism, and technology. The accords were formalised during the Egypt-Japan Investment Forum in Tokyo, which was attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, senior Egyptian cabinet members, and Japanese officials, demonstrating both governments’ strong commitment.

In education, Casio agreed to train mathematics teachers, Sprix partnered to develop maths and IT curricula modeled on Japanese standards, and Yamaha pledged to support music education through teacher training and  provision of instruments in 100 schools. A memorandum between Egypt’s Ministry of Education and Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology will further advance technical training and the Tokkatsu model.

On the energy front, the Suez Canal Economic Zone collaborated with Itochu and Orascom to build green ammonia facilities, while Tokyo committed support for hydrogen development. 

Waterway Development and Tokyo Hotels Group’s agreements, and Titan Capital-backed entertainment enterprises, boosted tourism and services. Toyota Tsusho has reached an agreement to localise automobile manufacture and fund scholarships at the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology.
