Adhiraj Mitra, a young chess sensation from Jamshedpur, has brought immense pride to Jharkhand by winning the Gold Medal at the Commonwealth Chess Championship 2025. The prestigious event, held in Malaysia from November 7 to 16, featured fierce competition among top players from several Commonwealth nations. In this strong field, Adhiraj has shown tremendous maturity and confidence.
He played nine rounds with unwavering focus. He won a string of outstanding games and finished the tournament unbeaten, conceding only two ties. Every game showed his strategic depth, patience, and ability to maintain composure even in tight situations.
Adhiraj, a student at Loyola School in Jamshedpur, has consistently risen through the ranks of Indian chess. His steady rise is now backed by an international title that carries great significance.
