India extends assistance for the reconstruction of schools in earthquake-affected Nepal
India has announced support for the construction of 14 schools in earthquake-affected districts of Nepal, reaffirming its long-standing development partnership with the neighbouring country. The initiative is aimed at improving educational infrastructure and assisting communities still recovering from the devastating impact of past earthquakes.
The schools will be built under India’s post-earthquake reconstruction assistance programme, which has focused on restoring essential infrastructure such as housing, schools, health facilities and cultural heritage sites in Nepal. Officials stated that the latest project reflects India’s continued commitment to supporting Nepal’s recovery and development efforts.
The reconstruction work is expected to benefit thousands of students by providing safer and modern educational facilities in affected regions. Authorities from both countries highlighted the importance of resilient infrastructure capable of withstanding future natural disasters in the Himalayan region.
India and Nepal share close cultural, economic and people-to-people ties, with India remaining one of Nepal’s largest development partners. Over the years, India has contributed to multiple infrastructure, connectivity and community welfare projects across Nepal.
The new school initiative is also expected to strengthen bilateral cooperation and deepen goodwill between the two nations. Officials noted that education remains a key pillar in long-term recovery and social development efforts for earthquake-hit communities.
