Government targets 6 lakh solar power connections rollout by mid-April
Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar has announced that nearly six lakh solar power connections will be provided to households by April 14, marking a significant push toward renewable energy adoption. The initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to promote clean energy and reduce dependence on conventional power sources.
The scheme aims to empower households, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas, by providing affordable and sustainable electricity solutions. By encouraging rooftop solar installations, the government seeks to lower electricity costs for consumers while contributing to environmental conservation.
Officials highlighted that the rollout is progressing at a rapid pace, with infrastructure and installation processes being streamlined to meet the deadline. The initiative is also expected to generate employment opportunities in the renewable energy sector, including manufacturing, installation, and maintenance.
This move aligns with India’s ambitious renewable energy targets and its commitment to reducing carbon emissions. By expanding access to solar power, the government aims to create a more resilient and sustainable energy ecosystem, benefiting both the economy and the environment in the long term.
