India is emerging as a global leader in the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, highlighting the country’s rapid technological transformation. Addressing global audiences and industry leaders, the Prime Minister noted that India’s widespread digital infrastructure and strong innovation ecosystem have accelerated AI adoption across sectors.

He credited flagship initiatives such as Digital India and the expansion of fintech services for creating a strong foundation that enables AI-driven solutions at scale. According to Modi, India’s large population and data ecosystem provide a unique advantage in developing inclusive and scalable AI applications.

The Prime Minister also emphasized that AI is transforming industries rather than replacing them, particularly in the IT sector, which is projected to see significant growth driven by AI-enabled services.

India’s ambitions were further underscored during the India AI Impact Summit 2026, where global leaders and technology companies gathered to discuss AI governance and innovation. The government envisions positioning India among the top global AI powers by 2047, with a focus on ethical, inclusive, and human-centric AI development.
