India Joins Gulfood 2026 as Partner Country in Historic First
India has marked a major milestone in global agri-trade by participating as a Partner Country at Gulfood 2026 in Dubai, for the first time in the event’s 31-year history. This development highlights India’s growing prominence in the global food and beverage market and reflects its deepening economic engagement with the Gulf region.
India’s participation is being led by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Gulfood 2026 is also being held at two venues for the first time, the Dubai World Trade Centre and the Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City Dubai. The Indian Pavilion showcases the country’s agri-diversity and export readiness. It was inaugurated by Avinash Joshi, Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, in the presence of India’s Ambassador to the UAE, Deepak Mittal.
The pavilion features 161 exhibitors from 25 Indian states and regions, including exporters, Farmer-Producer Organisations, cooperatives, startups, state government agencies, and national institutions. This wide representation reflects India’s strength across fresh produce, processed foods, cereals, spices, and value-added products, while also enabling small producers to connect with global buyers.
The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) is also participating with 11 exhibitors, focusing on basmati rice and other cereal grains. Meanwhile, a high-level delegation led by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, along with Invest India, is promoting investments in food processing, cold chains, logistics, and agri-infrastructure, strengthening India’s position as a reliable global food supplier.
