World’s First Gold Street Coming to Dubai
Dubai is set to get the world’s first ‘Gold Street’, a street constructed using gold, as part of the emirate’s newly launched Gold District. The announcement was made as Ithra Dubai officially unveiled the ambitious project, with further details to be revealed in phases.
Positioned as the emirate’s new ‘Home of Gold’, the Dubai Gold District aims to bring together the entire gold and jewellery ecosystem under one destination. The district will feature retail, bullion, wholesale trade, and investment, offering a comprehensive platform for the global gold industry. It already houses over 1,000 retailers across diverse sectors, including perfumes, cosmetics, gold, and lifestyle brands.
The launch comes at a time when the UAE continues to strengthen its position as a global gold hub. In 2024–2025, the country exported approximately USD 53.41 billion worth of gold, with major trading partners including Switzerland, the United Kingdom, India, Hong Kong, and Turkey. The UAE also emerged as the world’s second-largest physical gold trading destination.
Issam Galadari, CEO of Ithra Dubai, said the district “unites heritage, scale and opportunity,” while Ahmed Al Khaja of DFRE highlighted gold’s deep cultural and commercial significance to Dubai.
