Vishnu Deo Sai Flags Off Solar Awareness Drive, Transfers Subsidy to Beneficiaries
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai launched the ‘Surya Rath’ campaign to increase awareness about solar energy and promote the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. The program represents the state government’s ongoing efforts to promote the use of clean energy and contribute to India’s net-zero carbon emission target of 2070.
Mr. Sai noted that citizens of Chhattisgarh are becoming both consumers and contributors to the solar sector, supporting PMModi’s clean energy vision. To encourage greater involvement, he directly transferred Rs. 1.85 crore in state subsidies to 618 beneficiaries, with each household receiving Rs. 30,000.
The CM stressed the importance of renewable energy in combating climate change and pollution. He urged citizens to raise awareness about clean energy and inspire others to join the solar revolution. He also highlighted the PM KUSUM Yojana, which allows people to generate solar power, sell surplus electricity, and obtain affordable energy.Mr. Sai shared the state’s progress, stating that Chhattisgarh’s power generation capacity has increased from 1,400 MW in 2000 to 30,000 MW currently. With fresh industrial investments exceeding Rs. 3.50 lakh crore, the state intends to strengthen its status as a power leader.
