New Rail Project Set to Enhance Trade Flow Across Egypt
Egypt’s Ministry of Transport announced significant progress on the Rubiki-10th of Ramadan-Belbeis railway line, which spans 63.5 km and is part of the larger Ain Sokhna-Alexandria logistics corridor. Sada El-Balad, a TV BRICS partner, claimed that the development is being carried out by national contractors with the assistance of local specialists.
The project includes the construction of modern bridges, new railway tracks, and passenger and goods terminals. It is designed to connect the dry port and logistics zone in Ramadan City’s 10th district to significant Red Sea and Mediterranean ports, like Ain Sokhna, Adabiya, Port Said, Damietta, Alexandria, and Dekhelila.
Officials emphasise that this strategic railway line will play an important role in supporting easier and faster freight transportation. It is expected to strengthen connections between one of the Middle East’s largest industrial zones in 10th of Ramadan City and Egypt’s busiest seaports. The line will decrease logistical bottlenecks and increase export competitiveness by making it easier to move raw materials and completed products.
The new connection will also help to reduce congestion at maritime ports, increase container flow, and improve integration with the national supply chain.
