Prema Rawat Sets World Record

Indian cricketer Prema Rawat has set a world record for the fastest half-century in women’s T20 cricket, scoring 50 runs off just 14 balls for Uttarakhand against Hyderabad in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy on November 2.

The 24-year-old all-rounder surpassed the previous record of 15 balls, jointly held by Pakistan’s Fatima Sana, England’s Marie Kelly and Australia’s Laura Harris.

Batting at number four, Rawat arrived at the crease in the 18th over and immediately accelerated the scoring. She struck six fours and four sixes, finishing unbeaten on 50 as Uttarakhand posted 187 for two in 20 overs.

Her most productive overs came against off-spinner Vanka Pooja, from whom she scored 18 runs, and pacer Kunchala Niteesha. Rawat hit six, four, four and six off the final four deliveries of the innings to complete her record-breaking half-century.

Opening batter Raghvi Bisht also contributed with an unbeaten 72 off 50 balls, helping Uttarakhand build a commanding total.

Rawat continued her performance with the ball, taking two wickets for 12 runs in four overs. Hyderabad managed 98 for eight in reply, giving Uttarakhand an 89-run victory.

The achievement adds to Rawat’s growing record in domestic and international cricket. She has represented India in seven T20 internationals and was retained by Royal Challengers Bengaluru ahead of the 2027 Women’s Premier League season.

Her 14-ball fifty is now the fastest recorded in women’s T20 cricket.
