Lakshya Sen Wins Hylo Open Men’s Singles Title
Indian badminton player Lakshya Sen won the men’s singles title at the Hylo Open 2026 in Saarbrücken, Germany, defeating defending champion Jonatan Christie of Indonesia in straight games on November 1.
Sen secured a 21-17, 21-10 victory in the final to claim his second Hylo Open title and seventh BWF World Tour crown. The win also ended his year-long wait for a title on the international circuit.
The world number 14 produced a controlled performance in the opening game, maintaining his advantage during crucial rallies despite Christie’s attempts to narrow the gap. Sen closed out the game 21-17 before taking greater control in the second.
The Indian shuttler built an early lead and continued to pressure Christie through attacking shots and consistent defence. The Indonesian struggled to find his rhythm as Sen extended the gap to 16-9.
A successful video review gave Sen 10 championship points, and he converted the next opportunity to seal the match 21-10.
The victory marks Sen’s first BWF title of 2026. His previous Hylo Open triumph came in 2021, making him the first Indian player to win the men’s singles title at the tournament twice.
Sen had faced a difficult season on the tour, including several early-round exits following his appearance in the All England final. The championship provides a significant boost ahead of upcoming international competitions.
His victory also completed a successful day for India at the tournament, with PV Sindhu winning the women’s singles title earlier in the day.
