India achieved a new milestone in smartphone exports during the first quarter of FY26 (April-June), with shipments totalling $7.72 billion. This represents a remarkable 58% increase over the $4.9 billion earned during the same period last year. The growth positions India as a growing global hub for smartphone manufacturing and exports.

Apple Inc. is a significant contributor to this success, having exported $6 billion in iPhones through its contract manufacturers alone. This represents an incredible 82% year-on-year increase, making it not just Apple’s best-performing quarter for exports from India, but also the highest quarterly smartphone export value ever recorded in the country. Apple accounted for roughly 78% of total smartphone exports during the quarter.

The 2020 Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) initiative to promote local electronics manufacture has propelled this growing trend. Smartphone exports rose from $3.1 billion in FY21 to $24.1 billion in FY25, with Apple contributing $17.5 billion.

India’s electronics exports stood at $12.4 billion in the first quarter of FY26, a 48% increase year-over-year. Smartphones alone accounted for 62% of this figure. Apart from Apple, major players include Padget Electronics, which exported $175 million, and Samsung, which contributed 12% of total smartphone exports.
