Kazakhstan delivered a strong performance at the Asian Wrestling Championships 2026, winning one gold and two bronze medals in Greco-Roman wrestling events held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The tournament, which runs from April 6 to 12, features top wrestlers from across Asia competing in multiple weight categories.

Almatbek Amanbek clinched the gold medal in the 72kg category after defeating Iran’s Mohammad Javad Rezai in the final by pinfall, showcasing a dominant performance. His victory marked a significant achievement for Kazakhstan in the championship.

Kazakhstan also added two bronze medals to its tally. Ibragim Magomadov secured third place in the 82kg category after staging a comeback to beat China’s Liu Rui 5–3. Meanwhile, Islam Yevloyev claimed bronze in the 97kg division with a commanding win over South Korea’s Lee Minho by technical superiority.

However, not all Kazakh wrestlers reached the podium, as Yerbol Kamaliyev narrowly missed out on a medal in the 60kg category.

The results underline Kazakhstan’s continued strength in Greco-Roman wrestling on the continental stage, reinforcing its reputation as a competitive force in Asian wrestling.
