India Fields 50-Strong Squad for Dubai 2026 Para Athletics GP
The stage is set for the season-opening 17th Fazza International Para Athletics Championships, Dubai 2026, with Paralympic and world champions ready to kick-start the year at the Dubai Club for People of Determination grounds. The championships will be held from February 10 to 13 and will feature around 500 athletes from 56 nations, all aiming to achieve minimum qualification standards for major international events scheduled later this year.
India has sent a strong 50-member contingent, led by reigning Paris 2024 Paralympic javelin champions Sumit Antil and Navdeep. The Indian squad also includes two-time Paris 2024 medallist Preeti Pal and Simran, the Paralympic bronze medallist in the women’s 200m T12.
Among European stars, Belgium’s Maxime Carabin, a two-time Paris 2024 Paralympic champion and five-time world champion, will be a major attraction. Canada’s Austin Smeenk, who won gold in the men’s 800m T34 and bronze in the 100m T34 at Paris 2024, is another top contender.
Hosts UAE will field 65 athletes, including several Paralympic medallists. Mohammed Youssef Othman will lead the men’s campaign, while the women’s challenge will be spearheaded by Sara Aljeneibi, Noura Alktebi, and world champion Maryam Alzeyoudi. Organisers said the event continues to set high standards since its launch in 2009.
