Japan, South Korea & Malaysia Invest ₹1,600 Crore in Gujarat’s Semiconductor Push

The announcements, made during the Gujarat Semiconnect Conference in Gandhinagar, underline rising interest from Japanese and South Korean companies in the state’s electronics sector.

Japan’s Horiba Group, through Horiba India Pvt Ltd, signed an MoU to set up a semiconductor-focused R&D centre in Ahmedabad for mass-flow controllers and advanced instrumentation. Malaysia-based Hotayi Electronics will invest ₹250 crore in a manufacturing facility at Sanand GIDC, generating around 1,000 jobs and supplying precision components.

Hi-Spec Ltd will establish a ₹750 crore plant to produce semiconductor-grade hydrofluoric acid for wafer processing. Kiansh International Technologies, with a South Korean partner, will invest ₹25 crore in gas abatement systems for the semiconductor and solar industries.

Additionally, Rohm Semiconductor has partnered with Suchi Semicon for IC packaging and testing, while Kaynes Semicon will invest ₹500 crore in SpectraGaze Systems, boosting high-tech innovation and strengthening Gujarat’s end-to-end semiconductor value chain.
