Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently met Rolls-Royce CEO Tufan Erginbilgic, signalling a renewed push to deepen the British engineering major’s footprint in India. The discussions focused on expanding partnerships across engineering, manufacturing, and innovation, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat.

Sharing visuals from the meeting on X, PM Modi said, “It was wonderful meeting Tufan Erginbilgic, CEO of Rolls-Royce, earlier today. We welcome Rolls-Royce’s enthusiasm towards scaling up its activities in India and partnering with our innovative and dynamic youth.”

Rolls-Royce India also highlighted the strategic nature of the engagement, noting that Erginbilgic spoke about the company’s plans to scale up its presence to support India’s long-term development goals. According to the company, the discussions included expanding its Global Capability Centre (GCC) to become its largest globally, co-creating complex manufacturing capabilities, and building high-value engineering expertise.

The meeting gains significance in light of Erginbilgic’s remarks in October 2025, when he described India as a potential “home market” for Rolls-Royce during his visit with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s delegation. He had emphasised India’s importance across civil aviation, defence, and energy sectors.
