Sheikh Hamdan Witnesses Global Partnerships for Human-Centred City Development
Dubai reinforced its global commitment to sustainable and human-centred urban growth by forming new international collaborations with Tokyo and Brisbane. During the Asia-Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum 2025 at Expo City Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, witnessed the signing of numerous bilateral agreements.
The agreements were signed at the Government of Dubai Pavilion, demonstrating the city’s commitment to encouraging collaboration and innovation in future-oriented urban planning. Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary General of Dubai’s Executive Council, and Yuriko Koike, Governor of Tokyo, signed an MoU to strengthen collaboration in infrastructure, transit, digital innovation, and urban resilience. The alliance shows a common goal of creating smart, sustainable cities that prioritise quality of life.
Sheikh Abdulla and Brisbane Lord Mayor Councillor Adrian Schrinner signed another memorandum of understanding, focusing on urban governance, large event management, tourism, and talent attraction. The Asia-Pacific Cities Summit, which takes place from October 27 to 29, brings together global city leaders and private sector specialists to discuss ideas for sustainable urban growth.
