India Reaffirms Global Climate Commitment at International Solar Alliance Session

President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the opening plenary of the International Solar Alliance’s (ISA) Eighth Session in New Delhi. Addressing delegates from member countries, she highlighted the ISA as a symbol of global unity and a shared resolve to harness solar energy for sustainable growth, equality, and social prosperity.

The President stated that climate change is one of the most important issues of the modern era and urged immediate, coordinated action. She reaffirmed India’s strong commitment to environmental protection, saying the ISA is critical to promote clean energy adoption across nations.

President Murmu emphasised India’s success in supplying power to rural locations, stating that energy equity is the foundation of societal growth. She emphasised that having access to clean and inexpensive energy not only improves living conditions but also encourages empowerment, economic development, and gender equality.

She encouraged ISA members to develop policies that relate solar energy programs to job creation, women’s leadership, digital inclusion, and sustainable rural living. She emphasised the importance of maintaining ecological balance and stated that the success of solar efforts should be assessed by how many lives are saved and how communities are transformed. President Murmu expressed confidence that the Assembly’s deliberations would strengthen global solar cooperation.
