UAE and Oman Agree on Closer Cooperation in Transparency and Accountability

The UAE and Oman have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation in public fund oversight and anti-corruption efforts. The agreement was reached during a meeting between Sheikh Ghuson Hilal Al Alawi, Chairman of the State Audit Institution of Oman, and Humaid Obaid Abushibs, Chairman of the UAE Accountability Authority, at the authority’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
This MoU emphasises both countries’ shared objective of increasing transparency, integrity, and accountability in government. It also demonstrates their shared commitment to protecting public resources and promoting sustainable development in both countries.
The memorandum focuses on cooperation in a number of sectors, including the exchange of skills, knowledge, and national technologies that the two sides are now implementing. It also focuses on organising joint forums, conferences, lectures, and workshops to discuss best practices and enhance institutional capacity.
Both authorities have agreed to work together to develop and exchange audit manuals, methodologies, and strategic plans that align with international standards.
The State Audit Institution reaffirmed its commitment to expanding collaboration with peer institutions throughout the GCC. The institution seeks to help national efforts to protect public finances and combat corruption through regular visits, bilateral meetings, and cooperative activities.
