Lamboria Dominates Polish Opponent to Become World Champion

India’s Jaismine Lamboria delivered an impressive performance to win gold in the women’s 57kg category at the World Boxing Championships 2025 in Liverpool. In the final, Lamboria defeated Poland’s Szermeta Julia 4-1 with sharp counterattacks and superior technique.
Despite a vocal Polish crowd backing Julia on, Jaismine remained composed and grew stronger as the bout proceeded. She used her reach advantage to dictate the pace from the second round onwards, never allowing her opponent to recover.
The gold medal represents a remarkable return for the Indian boxer, who was eliminated early from the Paris 2024 Olympics despite capturing silver earlier in the competition. “This feeling cannot be expressed. Becoming a world champion is a dream come true. “After Paris, I worked hard to improve physically and mentally, and this medal is the reward,” Jaismine said after the win.
India’s medal tally was increased further when Nupur won silver in the 80kg category despite a narrow 3-2 loss to Poland’s Agata Kaczmarska, who wowed with a late deciding blow. Meanwhile, Pooja Rani won bronze after falling 4-1 against Britain’s Emily Asquith in a decision.
This has been one of India’s best performances at the World Boxing Championships, with three medals in a single edition.
