Dubai is establishing itself as a vital hub for higher education, drawing an increasing number of Indian institutions and students. The city recently celebrated a significant milestone with the opening of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad’s (IIM-A) first overseas campus at Dubai International Academic City. This move shows Dubai’s objective of providing globally competitive academic opportunities while creating cultural proximity for Indian students.

According to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority’s (KHDA) 2024-2025 study, Indian students make up 42% of all international higher education enrolments in Dubai. The city’s overall enrolment increased by 20% year-on-year, hitting a new high of 42,026 students in the current academic year.

Dubai’s Education 33 (E33) strategy expects international students to account for half of the total student body by 2033, confirming its ambition to become a global education destination.

Along with IIM-A’s entry, Symbiosis Dubai, the first Indian institution to receive full program accreditation from CAA and KHDA, marked its first anniversary with an event attended by India’s Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The university also welcomed the incoming batch for 2025-2026.
